Pillars of Light Project

  • In response to the terrible terror attack on Oct 7th and the subsequent surge in antisemitic acts and rhetoric, we are organizing a Menorah display and initiative called ‘Pillars of Light’. The goal is to unite the Jewish community in an effort to support Israel and to proudly share light in the face of darkness. The 6x10 ft display will feature 8 glowing pillars, representing the 8 Chanukah candles. Upon these glowing pillars, will be affixed special sticker tiles in the shape of flames. On these tiles will be written a pledge for a special mitzvah –good deed - that each person has taken upon themselves in the spirit of Chanukah, the Holiday in which we celebrate the victory of Light Over Dark.  As mentioned, the purpose of this initiative is to rally spiritual support for our brothers and sisters is in Israel, to proudly declare our Jewish identity, and to celebrate the message of Chanukah with a concrete commitment to grow in one’s Mitzvot and Judaism.
The initiative is hoping to gather over 1,000 mitzvot to affix to the display and to beam the positive deeds into the night and across the globe to the Holy Land. The event will take place on Sunday, Dec 10th at 5:30pm, coinciding with the 4th night of Chanukah. The event will feature the brightly lit ‘Pillar of Light’ display, the lighting of the giant Menorah by a public official, fire-juggling entertainment, glow in the dark donuts and gifts, as well as latkes and music. It is free and open to the public. See flyer below:
